Situation along Teknaf frontiers eases

The situation at the frontiers along Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar remained almost calm on Tuesday after heavy gunshots amid the fighting between Myanmar’s military forces and Arakan Army (AA).
Sources said sounds of heavy gunshots and explosions of mortars were heard from Thursday to Saturday midnight.
The intense of fighting started decreasing since Sunday. But, some sounds were heard since Monday evening and it reduced significantly since midnight and the situation was prevailing till Tuesday afternoon.
However, the panic was prevailing among the locals.
Fishermen also did not go for fishing while transportation of locals through small boats in the Naf River remained suspended.
Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Adnan Chowdhury said sounds of firing were not heard through the frontiers along Teknaf on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the situation at the frontiers along Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban and Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar remained calm over the last week.
