7 killed in road, train accidents

At least seven people were killed in road and train accidents in Tangail, Gazipur, Madaripur and Narayanganj on Saturday night and Sunday.
On Sunday, four people, including two women, were killed when a pick-up and CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on at Mirzapur in Tangail.
The deceased were identified as Luftar Rahman alias Moijuddin, 40, son of Yusuf Mia of Goirabetil village, Rahima Begum, 45, wife of Tara Mia, Akash Mia, 30, son of Biddut Mia of Nagor Vatgram, and Nazmul Islam, 34, son of Samez Mia of Noyapara.
All of them were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.
Inspector Humayun Kabir, who is in charge of Bashtoil Police Outpost, said that the accident took place around 3:04pm on the Gorai-Shakhipur road in Telipara area, leaving three passengers dead on the spot.
Locals rescued two injured people and took them to Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital where doctors on duty declared one of them dead, he added.
In Gazipur, a woman was killed as an ‘easy bike’ hit her on the Shreepur-Mawna road at about 1:30pm on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Nargis Akhter, 35, wife of Anisur Rahman of the Kewa area.
In Shibchar upazila of Madaripur, a madrasa student was crushed under the wheels of a train when he was crossing the railway line around 9:00am. The deceased identified as Mahmudul Islam, 10, was a student at Ikra Rawjatul Ulum Madrasa. The victim was the son of Jahangir Molla of Boro Keshobpur from the upazila.
In Narayanganj, Mohammad Maznu Mia, 48, was killed as an auto-rickshaw rammed him on the Adamjee-Narayanganj Nagina Joha road around 9:00 pm on Saturday.
