The Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela is introducing children to a vast, colorful world beyond textbooks apart from developing a reading habit among them from an early age.
Alongside offering an array of literary treasures, the fair's dedicated initiatives for children such as the Shishu Prohor, Shishu Chattar, children’s book stalls and different competitions are playing a significant role in keeping the youngsters away from digital devices.

The guardians said these arrangements are contributing to enhancing their children's intelligence, perspectives and creativity as well.
Jamal Hossain, a father, said, "Through the book fair, children will develop the habit of reading from a young age. They’ll become good readers and maybe even authors someday. They’ll shape Golden Bangla of their dreams."

Wahiduzzaman Patwary, another father, said, "Due to the availability of various digital devices, the attachment to books has decreased to a large extent. That's why I’ve brought my daughter to the book fair so that she can develop an attachment to books from childhood. Children also have the opportunity to develop their intellect here."
Meanwhile, popular Sisimpur characters --Tuktuki, Shiku, Ikri and Halum give various good advice and messages alongside entertaining children during the Shishu Prohor on weekdays.
Tuktuki, the bookworm, encourages children to read books while Shiku, the scientist, shares stories about invention and discovery. Ikri encourages children to ask questions while Halum encourages everyone to eat vegetables and fish.

"Earlier, my son didn’t eat vegetables and fish. Now, seeing Halum eating vegetables and fish, he also regularly eats those. Besides, following Tuktuki, he now reads books too," said Jannat Ara Shaila, a mother from Azimpur.
Moreover, recitation, music and drawing competitions are organised exclusively for children at the book fair, aiming to nurture their creativity and imaginative skills.
"Different types of competitions are organised for children at the book fair. It's a good initiative. I’ve brought my daughter to participate in the music competition," said Puja Sarker, a mother from Nilkhet area.
In addition to the cultural and recreational activities, various comic books and graphic novels are also available at different stalls through which children have the opportunity to learn about Bangladesh's history, the Liberation War and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Iftekhar Ahmed, a father, bought Bangabandhu's 'Amar Dekha Noyachin' graphic novel for his son Irfan.
He said, "With the changing times, the habit and demand of children are also changing. They’re now interested in comics, graphic novels, etc. That's why I bought this graphic novel for my son so that he can learn about Bangabandhu."
On the 17th day of the fair, a discussion on “Remembrance: Shaeed Saber” and “Remembrance: Panna Kaiser” was held on the main stage of the book fair at 4pm.
Monir Yousuf and Mamun Siddiqui presented the keynote papers while Gias Uddin, Suvas Singho Roy, Ratan Siddiqui and Shomi Kaiser took part in the discussion with Ramendu Majumdar in the chair.
According to Bangla Academy, a total of 171 new books hit the book fair on the day.
At the Lekhok Bolchi stage, poet Shanta Maria, fiction writer Eshrar Latif, children's writer Ahsan Malik and essayist Suman Shams discussed their new books.
