Supply food at fair prices during Ramadan

State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu on Wednesday called on the large companies to supply food at fair prices during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Currently, the biggest challenge is the market management. We have taken initiatives to introduce a smart marketing system for proper management,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the MCCI quarterly (January-March) lunch meeting
at the MCCI office in Dhaka.
The reflectionsof the initiativestaken for the smart market management are expected to be visible from next month, the minister added.

Titu said the government will launch several initiatives from next month, including ensuring the name, price and milling dates of rice on rice sacks to ensure proper management of the market.
“The government does not want to control the market by policing. Market will operate on a demand-supply basis. But keep in mind that it is not a free market, but a controlled market,” he continued.

The state minister further said the government will take other steps, including increasing the supply of TCB products. Measures are being taken so that no one can influence the price of products, he added. He also said the government has taken different initiatives for promoting domestic handicrafts at international level.
