Awami League nominated candidate Shahiduzzaman Sarker has secured victory in the Naogaon-2 constituency election held on Monday.
The boat candidate Shahiduzzaman bagged 1,18,940 votes, while his nearest independent candidate HM Akhtarul Islam secured 74,363, according to the unofficial voting results declared by the returning officer.

Among others, Tofazzal Hossain of the Jatiya Party got 4,094 votes and another independent candidate Mehedi Mahmud Reza obtained 1,479 votes.
The voting began at 8:00am on the day at 124 polling centres of the constituency and continued till 4:00pm.
The 12th national parliamentary elections were held on

7 January, but the Election Commission had deferred the Naogaon-2 election after Aminul Haque, a 75-year-old independent candidate, passed away on 29 December.
