The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed on the night of 25 February as the Shaban moon sighted in the country on Sunday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office.
Additional Secretary of Religious Affairs Ministry Md A Awal Howlader presided over the meeting.
A public holiday has been scheduled on February 26 on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat.
According to Muslim belief, on this night, Allah writes the destinies of all the creations for the coming year by taking into account their past deeds.
