A housewife was reportedly beaten to death by her husband in Sufia Villa of Jashore’s Newtown area on Sunday night.
The deceased was Maya Rani, 32, wife of Paritosh Kumar Sana of Balabaria village in Asashuni upazila of Satkhira.
The body of the deceased bore several injury marks for supposedly being beaten severely, said hospital sources.
Sushanto Kumar Mandal, the brother of the deceased alleged that Maya was beaten to death by her husband. Since their marriage, Paritosh used to torture Maya over minor household issues, he added.
Sub-Inspector Asif Akbar Joy of Jashore Kotwali Police Station said Paritosh Kumar brought his wife to the hospital with serious injuries on Sunday at 10pm when the on-duty doctor declared her dead. After hearing the news, Maya's husband ran away from the hospital.
“The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for post-mortem. The cause of death will be cleared after getting the autopsy report”, he added.
