Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina on Saturday reappointed her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy as a part-time and honorary information and   
communication technology (ICT) adviser.
Joy was appointed as PM Hasina’s adviser under the 3 (B) (1) of the Rules of Business, 1996, according to a circular signed by Director (administration) of the Prime Minister’s Office M Ahsan Kibria Siddique on Sunday.

PM Hasina’s Assistant Press Secretary MM Emrul Kayas confirmed it to the media.
Joy would carry out his duties in line with instructions and suggestions of PM and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina.
Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed, popularly known as Sajeeb Wazed Joy, was also PM Hasina’s ICT adviser earlier. He resigned from the post on 29 November 2023 ahead of the 12th national election.

Following a landslide victory in the 7 January general election, Sheikh Hasina on 11 January 2024 formed a 37-member cabinet and appointed her six advisers – Dr Mashiur Rahman, Dr Gowher Rizvi, Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, Salman Fazlur Rahman and Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
Except for Kamal Abdul Naser, five others were advisers to the PM during her previous term.

Meanwhile, PM Hasina assigned responsibilities to her advisors. The cabinet division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday.

According to gazette, Dr Mashiur Rahman will look after economic affairs, Dr Gowher Rizvi will be in charge of international affairs, Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury is the advisor of energy, power and mineral resources affairs, Maj Gen (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique is the security adviser, Salman Fazlur Rahman is the industries and investment adviser and Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury has been given the responsibility as the education and cultural adviser.

The position of an adviser is equal to the rank and status of a minister. They will enjoy all the facilities, including the salary, allotted to a minister. However, Salman Fazlur Rahman is an honorary adviser.
