The Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) found different irregularities during a surprise drive at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
A four-member team of the ACC, led by Chattogram Integrated Office-1 Assistant Director (AD) Enamul Hoque, conducted the drive at the largest public hospital of the region on Thursday.
Sources said the ACC team revealed incident of withdrawing medicines from the store despite not having in the prescription. Evidence of taking away medicine in the name of patients, who even didn’t get admitted, was found during the drive. The on-duty nurses couldn’t provide logical response in this regard, said the sources.
The ACC AD told the reporters that they carried out the drive in disguise after getting complaint over hotline.
“We found some irregularities over the government supplied medicines and nurses are involved with the irregularities,” he said adding, they informed the matter to the hospital director.
CMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Ahsan said they will take action against the irregularities found during the ACC drive.
