293 ‘armed terrorists’ arrested in ’23

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) claimed that they arrested a total of 293 armed terrorists and recovered a huge amount of domestic and foreign arms and ammunition in 2023.
Director of Legal and Media Wing of RAB Commander Khandaker Al Moin said this to the Daily Sun on Thursday.
RAB also claimed that since its formation the para-military force arrested a total of 14,416 people with a total of 19,755 weapons of weapons kinds and 2,59,703 rounds of ammunition by conducting raids in various areas including Dhaka and bordering districts of the capital. Moin said that in 2023 RAB recovered 618 different types of domestic and foreign arms, 103 magazines, 1,362 rounds of ammunition, 2,134 different types of cocktails, bombs, grenades and 59.53 kg of explosives.
Among the mentionable expeditions of RAB, arrest of arms smuggler Asabur Bahini. On 12 August night, 2023, a raiding team of RAB-6 conducted raids in Dakop and Mongla EPZ areas of Khulna and arrested eight members of the Asabur Bahini along with a large amount of domestic and foreign weapons and ammunition.
On 19 February, RAB conducted raids in different areas of the capital to identify the mastermind of the firearms smuggling ring from neighboring countries.
They arrested Md Palash Sheikh (38), son of Md Nabir Sheikh and his associates Md. Monowar Hossain (32) from Naogaon, Sadar, Rashidul Islam (40) from Dinajpur Sadar , Nazim Molla (35) of Kalia area of Narail, Maruf Hossain (24) from Ullapara area under Sirajganj, Md. Naimul Islam (22) from Rupganj of Narayanganj.
RAB claimed to have recovered one foreign pistol, two one-shooter guns, seven single-barreled guns, two pistol magazines, eight rounds of pistol bullets, two rounds of one-shooter bullets, 67 rounds of single-barreled gun bullets, 40 rounds of 0.22 bore rifle bullets, huge quantity of fake licenses were recovered.
“Due to operation of RAB, people are living in peace and their confidence in law enforcement has been restored,” Moin added.
