BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been arrested by the court in separate cases of Paltan Police Station and Ramna Model Police Station of the capital.
The hearing of the bail application of these cases will be held today.
On Tuesday, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin's court showed Mirza Fakhrul arrested in these cases.
Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul's lawyers applied for bail in these cases.
At that time, the court asked to apply for arrest in these nine cases before the bail hearing.
His lawyers then applied to show arrest in the cases. The court then granted the application. Later, a partial bail hearing was held and the court fixed today for further hearing.
Earlier, in view of Mirza Fakhrul's bail application, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury fixed this day for the bail hearing on 31 December.
Mirza Fakhrul's lawyer, former president of Dhaka Bar Association and former member of Bangladesh Bar Council Golam Mostafa Khan confirmed this information.
11 cases were filed against Mirza Fakhrul in connection with BNP's general meeting on October 28. Among them there are eight cases of Paltan Police Station and three cases of Ramna Model Police Station.
Mirza Fakhrul was arrested and produced in court on October 29 in the case of attack on the residence of the Chief Justice. After that, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin ordered to send him to jail in view of the application of the investigating officer of the case.
Then on November 22 in this case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge (Acting) Faisal Atiq Bin Quader, his lawyers sought the bail of Fakhrul in this case. However, his bail was denied even today.
In addition, Mirza Fakhrul was sent to jail after being arrested in a case of Paltan Model Police Station on December 18 after being denied bail. He is currently in jail.
