Major cabinet reshuffle expected

Around two-thirds of the current cabinet members are likely to be changed, and many new faces from the newly elected parliamentarians of the ruling Awami League (AL) may come in the upcoming cabinet, sources said.
The new cabinet will be formed, and its members will take oath at Bangabhaban tomorrow (Thursday).

According to party insiders, Awami League has secured its landslide victory for the fourth consecutive term. AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to form her new cabinet, dropping a remarkable number of ministers and state ministers from the current cabinet.
Many new faces from the AL parliamentarians will be inducted into the new cabinet. At the same time, a few specialists may be taken into the cabinet as technocrat ministers or state ministers later.
The current cabinet has 47 members, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Of them, Obaidul Quader, Hasan Mahmud, AK Abdul Momen, Anisul Huq, Dipu Moni, Imran Ahmed, Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Zahid Faruk, Khalid Mahmud Choudhury, Zahid Ahsan Russel, AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury may retain in the forthcoming cabinet, the party sources added.
Speaking to the Daily Sun, a senior AL leader seeking anonymity, said a significant number of new faces may find a place in the upcoming cabinet.
Sheikh Hasina may pick some young lawmakers to form the cabinet, added the leader.

Party sources said there have so many names came up for the new cabinet. They are--Abul Hasanat Abdullah, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Simeen Hussain Rimi, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Selim Mahmud, SM Kamal Hossain, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, Abdus Sabur, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Md Ali Arafat, Abul Kalam Azad, Sajjadul Hasan, Major (Retd) Abdus Salam, Sayeda Zakia Noor Lipi, Chayon Islam, Dr Abdul Aziz, Shahadara Mannan, Rezwan Ahmed Toufiq, Md Abu Zahir, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Pran Gopal Datta, Soumendra Prasad Pandey, Shibli Sadique, Abul Kalam Md Ahasanul Hoque Chowdhury, Ahmed Firoz Kabir, Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta, Mahbub-ur-Rahman Ruhel and Ali Azam Mukul.

However, the news cabinet will be formed from the partymen, insiders said.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that only Prime Minister will decide regarding the cabinet formation.
According to AL office, the new cabinet will be formed from the winners of the recently concluded 12th parliamentary election. President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the Prime Minister, Ministers, State Ministers, and Deputy Ministers at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 7pm on Thursday.
The new members of parliament will be sworn on Wednesday (today) at 10 am. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury will first take her oath as a new member of parliament, after which she will administer the oath to the newly elected parliamentarians.
