Mamiza Rahman Raya is a special child. Once she shared her desire in a social media post to talk with honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over video call. Within a day, the Prime Minister herself made a video call to Raya.
The premier chatted with the child. Raya recited poem during the call with the head of government. She also sang the national anthem ‘Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Bhalobasi’. The childish prime minister also echoed the anthem with Raya.
Another example of humanitarian action of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came to light when a child, Shirshendu Biswas from Jhalakathi wrote a letter to the prime minister requesting a bridge over Payrariver in Mirjaganj. The daughter of Bangabandhu responded to the letter of a fourth-grader. The government allocated Tk 10.42 billion for constructing a bridge over Payrariver connecting 17 kilometres link road.
The Kalsindur in Mymensingh district is famous for inspiring girls of football. The students of Kalsindur Higher Secondary School brought a great honour to the country in 2019. The winner girls requested honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make their school public.
The daughter of Bangabandhu again responded to the call of young minds. The village became enlightened with electricity in an effort of the prime minister. The football girls also got facilities of nutritious food and practice from the premier.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave houses to 1,786 families in Netrakona. “We are getting a house, the Prime Minister will get heaven,” said many people in the area after getting a house.
The daughter of Bangabandhu gave semi-concrete houses to 15 families on the occasion of Mujib Borsho to improve the living standards of small ethnic groups in Naogaon's Badalgachhi.
How much can I narrate numerous social actions from our honourable prime minister. Our dear Prime Minister has set a new record of humanitarian aid during corona pandemic. Around 5 million families from low-income group got financial assistance from her.
We found an inspiring story from Kangsha union of Sherpur where an eighty-year-old beggar donated Tk 10 thousand to support people amid the corona pandemic. Nazimuddin saved this 10 thousand taka to repair his house. Knowing this matter, the Prime Minister gifted a concrete house to Nazimuddin.
Let's talk about Hasmat Ali of Gafargaon. He is a poor van driver. As an extreme fan of Bangabandhu and Awami League, he used to run whenever he heard about the procession and meeting of Awami League. On the other hand, he didn't even know whether the family was going on or not. Wife Ramiza Khatun is also a Bangabandhu devotee like her husband. Hasmat Ali rushed to Dhaka family after the brutal incident of August 15 in 1975.
He sold his village house and spent 25 years in Agargaon slums. When Sheikh Hasina returned country from asylum, Ramiza Khatun began going to Awami League rally. She sometimes sat in front of Bangabandhu House in Dhanmondi 32 in the capital.
Hasmat bought 6.45-decimal land in 2003 at his village for Sheikh Hasina as he thought of Hasina as an ‘orphan’ after the tragic killings of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and mother Fazilatunnesa Mujib on August 15, 1975.
Hasmat Ali could not get treatment due to lack of money. Wife Ramiza Khatun sold her own blood and treated her husband as much as she could. His son and other relatives said to sell the land for treatment. Both Hasmat Ali and Ramiza Khatun did not agree to anything.
After the death of her husband, Ramiza Khatun lived on the pavement and lived by begging. Journalist Haider Ali highlighted the rare story of love for Bangabandhu in Kaler Kantho newspaper.
The title of the article was 'Rare Love' published in 2010. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina noticed the inspiring story. Prime Minister called Haider Ali and Ramiza Khatun. Journalist Haider Ali has been rewarded with Tk 1 lakh for his specialised reporting. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hugged Ramiza Khatun and broke into tears. An emotional scene was created on that situation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took charge of Ramiza Khatun's treatment. She gave a job to his son, handed over the land bought in her name to Hasmat Ali's family and built a house there. She himself went and inaugurated that house. This is the humanitarian side of Bangabandhu's daughter.
The daughter of Bangabandhu holds legacy of her father who worked for the people throughout his life. Once an old mother saved ‘char aana’ paisa for Bangabandhu many years ago with deep love. Bangabandhu cried with emotion when he learnt about the old woman.
Similarly, Sheikh Hasina cried with Ramiza Khatun knowing the Hasmat Ali's extraordinary love. Bangabandhu loved people like this. This is how he dreamed of building Sonar Bangla. His daughter is now fulfilling many of her father's dreams.
Bangladesh is becoming the Golden Bangla as reflection to the dreams of Bangabandhu. The country has experienced rapid development over the last fourteen years. The courageous effort can’t be happened without the daughter of Bangabandhu.
Bangladesh built Padma Bridge with own funding. More mega projects, including Metro Rail, Karnaphuli Tunnel, Expressway in Dhaka and Chittagong, third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Kalna Bridge, are coming one after another.
And they are building hundreds of cluster villages, giving millions of people a place to live. Despite such rapid development, many conspiracies are happening around us. We see many attempts to destabilise the peace of the country. Nothing could suppress Bangabandhu's daughter. Sheikh Hasina has survived at least 19 attempts on her life. She remains with us with the blessing of Almighty Allah and loves people.
Our Prime Minister is getting unconditional love from the people of the country. People are praying. With the love of people and her own intelligence and prudence, Sheikh Hasina is taking Bangladesh forward in style.
Sheikh Hasina has become the ‘best leader’ of Asia, the foremost leader of the whole world. Her prudent leadership is now admired worldwide. She has overcome many challenges inside and outside of the country with her boldness.
People in Bangladesh have been inspired by her courageous role during the coronavirus pandemic. Sheikh Hasina has reached a unique height in the field of diplomacy. Bangladesh has become the centre of geo-politics and super powers of the world now consider Bangladesh as a valuable destination. All this happened for political wisdom of Sheikh Hasina.
Sheikh Hasina is now the only symbol of trust for the people of the country. She wakes up early in the morning. After performing the Tahajjud prayer, she sat down to recite the holy Al Qur'an. She starts his working day by performing the Fajr prayer.
Sheikh Hasina devoted herself for building Bangladesh as a prosperous country. She upholds sovereignty of the country ensuring security of over 170 million of people. Like his father, Sheikh Hasina is a leader of the people. She wants nothing more than to take the country forward and do the welfare of the people of the country.
We have seen many proofs of the pride that daughter of Bangabandhu feels in the glory of the country during the tremendous success of our cricket team. With her inspiration, Bangladesh team triumphed over many strong teams in the world. She sometimes appeared at the stadium to encourage the cricketers.
We know about boundless interest of Bangabandhu in art and literature. His hand is always extended to artists-writers-journalists who are in danger or sick. He never judged the political ideology to stand beside actors, singers, directors during financial hardship or treatment. He kept an eye on art and literature even in so many state jobs. Read literature regularly.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also keeps the love for art and culture like father. I can share an experience here. Awami League has organised a protest programme on August 21 grenade attack at Krishibid Institute in the capital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the programme. I got opportunity to attend the programme as a speaker.
When I came back to my seat, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told me that she read the novel of ‘Sare tin Hat Bhumi’ written by me. She said, “You have written about Bhagirathi in the novel. Do you know which Rajakar[collaborator of Pakistani Army] handed over Bhagirathi to the Pakistanis?”
I politely said, 'No, Apa.'
Sheikh Hasina replied that the Razakar's name is Delwar Hossain Sayeedi.
I was stunned with wonder. She read a novel by a writer like me and told an unwritten fact of the novel. How talented our prime minister, its extra ordinary!
Daughter of Bangabandhu also writes. Sheikh Hasina has several books. For example— Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita, Ora Tokai Keno, Bangladeshe Shoirotontrer Jonmo, Daridro Bimochon, Daridro Durikoron Kichu Chinta Bhabna, Amar Shopno Amar Shongram, Amra Jonogoner Kotha Bolte Esechi, Samoriktontro bonam Gonotantro, Sobuj Math Periye, Another book is Amader Chhoto Russel Sona which creates tears on reading the book.
Apart from this, Sheikh Hasina wrote outstanding preface for three books of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The books are – Oshomapto Attojiboni, Karagarer Rojnamcha and Amar Dekha Naya Chin. Sheikh Hasina wrote preface for Oshomapto Attojiboni when she was inside the jail during military-backed caretaker government.
It is surprising to think, under such pressure, a person can write such an introduction for the book of father. What is the strength of her mind! People may cry on reading the introduction of this book.
Just as the eyes of two daughters of Bangabandhu were full of tears while reading each page after the recovery of the notebooks, the reader is also affected by the same emotion after reading the introduction.
I once very politely asked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
'Apa, I have read your books. You have written many things about life in pieces. You wrote many memoire. Would you write a full-length autobiography?' With humble reply, she said, “Let tell me, which great work I do to write an autobiography?'
I heard the resonance of Bangabandhu's voice in words of Sheikh Hasina.
On beginning of Oshomapto Attojiboni, Bangabandhu wrote, "Friends say, write your biography. Colleagues say, write down the events of your political life, it will be useful in the future. I said, I can't write; And what have I done that can be written! Knowing the events of my life will be of any use to the public? I could not do anything. I can only say this; I have tried to sacrifice a little bit for principles and ideals.”
Father and daughter seem to have the same modesty about writing autobiographies.
On the eve of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s birthday, I pray to the most merciful, Almighty Allah that the courageous leader may see the realisation of her own and Bangabandhu's dreams. May Almighty Allah bless every day, every moment of the life of this beloved leader of our time.
