Microbus ‘carrying BNP men’ torched in Natore

Unidentified miscreants set fire to a microbus reportedly carrying BNP men inDalsharakarea of NatoreSadarupazila on Sunday.

The incident took place on the Natore-Bogura highway y in front of Dighapatia Textile Mill around 10:30am.

Confirming the matter, Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said it is yet to be clear who set the microbus on fire aftervandalisingit.

“Police are investigating the incident,” he added.

Natore district BNP leaders claimed the BNP leaders and workers were going to Bogura by the microbus to participate in a road-march programme held on Bogura-Rangpur highway.

Awami League cadres stopped the microbus and beat up BNP leaders before setting the microbus on fire.

Theyalso said the injured peoplewere receiving treatment at asecret location to save their lives.              On the other hand, the district’sAwami League leaders claimed noneof the ruling party men was involved in the incident.

Quoting local people,sources at NatoreSadar Police Station said around 10:30am, six to eight youths with several motorcycles took position in front of the textile mill.

When the microbus heading towards Bogurafrom Natorereached there, the youths stopped the microbus.

Around all 12 people quickly got out of the microbus and the youths beat them up before setting fire to it, said the sources.

Receiving information from the local people, firefighters and police went to the spot and made efforts to extinguishthe fire.

But in the end, the microbus was completely burnt, they said.
