Bangladesh finished their campaign of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualification without a point after they conceded a 0-1 goal defeat to Philippines in their third and last Group H match at the Chonburi Stadium in Thailand on Tuesday.
After a barren first half, midfielder Gavin Muens scored the match-winner for Philippines by converting a spot-kick in the 56th minute.
“We wasted two close chances and also conceded a penalty. The team should learn how to control emotions on the international stage,” U-23 coach Zulfiker Mahmud Mintu said after the match. Bangladesh earlier lost to Malaysia and hosts Thailand by 0-2 and 0-3 margin respectively in their previous two group matches.
