BSEC stresses accuracy on market info sharing

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) urged the officials to ensure proper management of information for maintaining sustainability in the market.

“Officials have a responsibility to remain aware of false and misleading data. We have to focus on accuracy when sharing information to keep the market stable,” Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, commissioner at   BSEC, said while addressing a workshop on Saturday.

The stock market regulator organised the workshop on capacity building on laws, rules and guidelines about right to information. Officials at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) participated in the workshop.

BSEC commissioner Rumana Islam inaugurated the event at a hotel in Cox’s Bazar. Addressing the session, she said that the access to information is a right for all citizens for strengthening good governance.

She urged the market managers to maintain accuracy in information and raise public awareness on potential of investment in the market.

BSEC executive director Mohammad Rezaul Karim made an informative presentation on the importance and necessity of information in the context of the ordinance of the stock regulator and existing laws.

BSEC deputy director Ziaur Rahman gave a presentation on the Right to Information Act where the participants got detailed understanding on data management in context of the capital market. Chittagong Stock Exchange acting managing director Ghulam Faruque  made a vote of thanks on the occasion.
