BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday feared the country might be used as the battleground of the foreign powers.
“It is a matter of concern that Bangladesh could be used as a battlefield of the big powers. The incumbent government is responsible for it,” he said.
He alleged that current Awami League government is making irresponsible statements to push Bangladesh into a terrible situation.
Mirza Fakhrul said they do not want any confrontation or chaotic situation in the country.
“We want holding a free and fair election in the country in democratic system…People is coming ahead with this demand. This government’s fall is inevitable,” he said.
Mentioning that no election will be allowed under the current government, the BNP secretary general said the incumbent government will have to resign and hand over power to a non-party caretaker government for holding the next polls.
He called upon the leaders and activists of the Mohila Dal to play an important role in making the current movement a success with their participation in street programmes.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the Awami League government has destroyed the country’s democracy and all democratic institutions.
