The government has planned to introduce more 1,000 digital education centres in addition to the existing 650 schools across the country, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of developing digital skills and the need for our youth to acquire such skills.
Posts and Telecommunica-tions Minister Mustafa Jabbar said this when Helena Lars, Vice President of Global Public Policy at TikTok, met the minister at his office in the Secretariat on Tuesday, according to press release.
He also stressed the importance of TikTok in disseminating educational content while promoting social and cultural values.
During his meeting with Helena, the minister said that TikTok can play a significant role in raising awareness about the importance of developing digital skills.
The minister said that since 1999, he has been involved in creating digital content for education, contributing to the advancement of digital skills in the younger generation.
He further said that high-speed broadband connectivity has reached nearly every union parishad bringing digital technology closer to the grassroots. Around 98 percent of the country has mobile network coverage.
Helena Lars praised Bangladesh's progress in digital connectivity. She expressed optimism about TikTok's role in transforming it into a popular platform for people while respecting the country's culture and traditions.
