Popular actor and director Afzal Hossain has been admitted to Square Hospital in the capital. He was taken to the hospital with pneumonia on Monday night, Masum Bashar, close friend of the artiste, told the media.

Masum Bashar said, “Afzal Hossain was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia but later suffered a heart attack. The doctors shifted him to the CCU department of the hospital. The actor is now under observation in the critical care unit (CCU).”

 The Ekushey Padak- winning actor was suffering from pneumonia for several days. But suddenly his health started too deteriorated on Monday night.

Afzal Hossain is a popular small and big screen actor of the country.

He started his acting career in theatrical productions in the mid-1970s. Later, he was enlisted as an actor of BTV and acted in dramas produced by BTV. He also starred in several movies including box office hit ‘Dui Jibon’, ‘Notun Bou’ and ‘Palabi Kothay’.

Afzal Hossain, also a director, writer and painter was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2022.
