A man and his five-year old daughter were killed while a running truck hit their motorbike on Bagerhat-Khulna highway in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Sohel Faraji, 37, of Sarankhola upazila and his daughter Nawrin Akhter. Sohel's wife Mimi Akhter, 32, and their elder daughter Nawsheen, 10, also suffered critical injuries.
The four persons fell on the road and suffered critical injuries after the truck hit the motorcycle.
They were rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Sohel and Nawrin dead, he added.
Mimi and Nawsheen are now under-going treatment at the hospital. Police seized the truck and detained driver Shahjahan Sardar, 38.
In Habiganj, two people were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a covered van in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj.
The accident happened at 6.30 am in new bridge area under Ubahata union on Chunarughat- Shaistaganj road.
Police said Farid was on his way to Habiganj to buy fish from Durgapur bazaar in Chunarughat.
The passenger Farid Mia was killed on the spot. The driver, Jamal, was rushed to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital with serious injuries, but doctors sent him to Sylhet. He succumbed to his injuries on the way there.
Both the vehicles were seized and taken to the police station. The body is being kept at the Chunarughat Upazila Health Complex for postmortem,” he said.
In Chandpur, a man was killed and his wife sustained critical injuries when a running bus collided with their motorbike.
The injured woman was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries.
The accident occurred near Hatmura Kalimandir Bridge on the Kachua-Gauripur road.
The deceased was identified as Selim Mia son of Abdul Latif of Rahimanagar Jorais village in Kachua upazila.
Selim Mia was killed on the spot while critically injured Kajal Rekha was rescued and first admitted to a private hospital in Sachar.
In Meherpur, a man was killed when a speedy motorcycle hit him on the Chatian-Hatboalia road under Gangni upazila. The accident happened around noon on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 30, son of Khabir Uddin Amin of Howrahpara village. He is a mason by profession.
Locals said Rahim was crossing the road in the afternoon.
At one stage, a speedy motorcycle hit him, leaving Rahim was critically injured.
Later, he was taken to Kustia Medical College (KUMEC) Hospital where he died.
