BNP to wipe out AL overnight if it comes to power: Quader

Popular News

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has apprehended that Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will wipe out Awami League in one night if the opposition party comes to power.

“If BNP assumes office, it will wipe out Awami League in one night. People haven’t forgotten the torture carried out between 1975 and 2004. None of AL leaders and activists was able to stay home during their regime,” he said while addressing a food distribution programme in the capital on Saturday.

The AL north city unit organised the programme at Golartek Playground in Mirpur with its president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman in the chair.        Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, blasted BNP for doing negative politics.

“Bangladesh Nationalist Party bears three qualities – carrying out violence, indulging in corruption and killing people. The Canadian court declared BNP as a terrorist organisation,” he said.

The AL spokesperson urged the countrymen to save the country from the anti-liberation elements.

“Is there any alternative to Sheikh Hasina in the country to become the Prime Minister? Even, the people of the country do not want the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They don’t want the dissolution to parliament and installation of the caretaker government,” he said.

Over the BNP’s leadership, the AL spokesperson said two top leaders of the BNP have been convicted and nobody knows who would lead the party.

Quader asked the people to be united for the sake of the country’s ongoing development. “If Sheikh Hasina becomes defeated, Bangladesh will be defeated. So, she must be victorious,” she said.

Over the BNP’s ongoing movement, the AL spokesperson said they would face the BNP politically.

“We will face them politically. But if they play with fires, we will face them with an iron fist,” he said.

AL organising secretary Mirza Azam and Dhaka north city unit general secretary SM Mannan Kochi, among others, also addressed the programme.
