BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for Singapore on Thursday morning for a medical checkup.
Mirza Fakhrul, along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum and daughter Mirza Safaruh, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka via a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 8:30am, the party’s media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan told the Daily Sun.
He said the 76-year-old BNP leader will receive treatment at National University Hospital Singapore for various health issues, including a blockage in the nerve in his neck. At the same time, Rahat Ara Begum has an appointment with a doctor at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for her treatment as well.
Shairul Kabir Khan, however, could not say when Mirza Fakhrul Islam would return home.
In February this year, Fakhrul went to Singapore for a medical checkup.After being release from jail in 2015, Mirza Fakhrul went to Singapore for treatment where the issue in his internal carotid artery was detected.
