Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three youths for their alleged complicity in the murder of schoolteacher Golam Kibria in Savar.

The three -- Emon Khan, 23, Mohammad Sagar, 22, and Sadek Gazi, 22, were nabbed from Jashore, Jhenaidah and Rangpur on Monday. A sum of Tk 5.21 lakh was also seized from them.

They killed Kibria to take away his cash, said Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director (Legal and Media) of the RAB, at a press conference in the capital on Tuesday.

On August 20, police recovered the body of Kibria from a house at Bhatpara in Savar. A letter was found beside his body reading: “We are the soldiers of Islam. We killed him (Kibria) for his immoral character.”

Kibria taught students and was also involved in land business. Emon who got acquainted with him learned that the teacher has a big amount of money in his house. Later, Emon masterminded the murder to steal his money.

On the night of August 19, they entered the residence of the victim, suffocated him to death and made off with Tk 6.50 lakh, leaving behind the letter.
