When Nusrat Jahan Misti was a 10th grader, her day-labourer father married her off. Now, she is a mother of one-and-a-half-year-old child. Her husband is a farmer. Now, she ponders how to be self-reliant. Suddenly, Misti knew about Shuvosangho, a social welfare organisation of the Bashundhara Group.

Without informing her family, she was enrolled in Bashundhara Shuvosangho training centre to learn sewing.

She received a sewing machine after completing the training. Getting a machine from Bashundhara Group, she became emotional and her joy knew no bounds.

She said, “I will first start sewing at home and then open a shop. Besides, I will be able to impart sewing knowledge to other women.  I dreamt that I would to be self-reliant. Bashundhara Group has helped me realise that dream.”

Another trainee, Rozina Khatun, was married off when she read in Class VIII amid endless poverty. In the latest development, her daughter has cut a good figure in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations while her son is a third grader.

She wants to make her daughter highly educated. To afford her children’s education, Rozina was looking for a job. Knowing about Bashundhara Shuvosangho training centre, she got enrolled there.

Upon successful completion of training, she received a sewing machine.

“I want to educate my daughter so that she does not suffer the same fate as me. I want to make her self-reliant as well. This machine will push me to solvency. I pray for the long lives of the Chairman of Bashundhara Group and his family members,” said Rozina.

Majid Mia, husband of Rehena Khatun at Amgachi village, bears family expenditure cultivating others’ lands. Rehena is very much concern about the study of her son, who is a ninth grader.

About her future plan, Rehena said, she wants to earn money by sewing, ensure higher study of her son and buy a piece of land for constructing a house. She hopes that the sewing machine will enable her to materialise her dreams. Rehena expressed gratitude to Bashundhara Group.
