The prices of fish, sugar, garlic, potatoes and some vegetables have increased while these of green chillies and onion prices were still high at the kitchen markets in the capital on Friday despite their imports from abroad.
While visiting kitchen markets in the capital, this correspondent has found that the supply crunch has caused a rise in the prices of different kinds of culture fishes, including tilapia, pangas, koi, ruhi, and other open water fishes like peali, shrimp, boal, ayer and some mixed varieties.
The Telapia fish price has gone up to TK 240-280 per kg from Tk 220-250 per kg while pangas fish price to Tk 240-270 per kg from Tk 180-200 per kg, farm koi price to 300 per kg from TK 260 per kg, pabda price to Tk 400-500 per kg from Tk 300-400 per kg, ruhi small ruhi (500 gram) price to Tk 260-280 per kg from Tk 200-220 per kg, (one kg) price to Tk 300-320 per kg from Tk 250-280 per kg and a big-size ruhi and katla price to 400-420 per kg from Tk Tk 350-380 per kg.
Some mixed river small fishes were sold at Tk 1000-1200 per kg while bagda shrimp price has increased to Tk 800-9—per kg from Tk 600-700 per kg, golda shrimp price to Tk 1200 per kg from Tk 900-1000 per kg, horina shrimp price to Tk 1300 per kg from Tk 1000 per kg, ayer (1kg) price to Tk 900 per kg from Tk 800 per kg, boal (1 kg) price to Tk 700-800 per kg from Tk 600-700 per kg, kachki fish price to Tk 700-800 per kg from Tk 500-600 per kg and tengra price to Tk 650-700 per kg from Tk 500 per kg.
Amirul Islam, a fish trader at Mirpur 6 kitchen market, said the supply of river fish has declined to the wholesale market amid their rising price.
The prices of beef, mutton and chicken remained stable. The beef was sold at Tk 800 per kg and mutton at Tk 1200 per kg.
Broiler chicken was sold at Tk 180-200 per kg while Sonali chicken at Tk 270-300 per kg.
Green chilli was sold at Tk 320-350 per kg. Its price has been roaming over Tk 300 per kg for the last month.
The onion price has yet to decline at a tolerable level despite adequate import. Local onion was sold at Tk 80 per kg and imported onion was sold at TK 50-60 per kg.
The garlic price has increased to Tk 160-180 per kg from Tk 140-150 while that of potato to Tk 45-50 per kg from Tk 40.
The ginger price has declined slightly to Tk 280-360 per kg from Tk 350 to 400 per kg. The sugar price has increased to Tk 140-150 per kg from Tk 130-135.
The tomato was sold at Tk 250-260 per kg while bitter gourd at Tk 80-100 per kg, brinjal at Tk 80-100 per kg, okra at Tk 60 per kg, pointed gourd at Tk 60 per kg, yardlong bean at 80-90 per kg, green papaya at Tk 55-60 per kg, local carrot at Tk 80-100 per kg, china carrot at Tk 150 per kg, snake gourd at Tk 60 per kg and gourd at Tk 60 per piece.
Earlier, the price of bottled soybean oil has been reduced by Tk 10 per liter on Tuesday.
The price of bottled soybean oil will be reduced by Tk 10 to Tk 179 per liter and five liter soybean oil will be reduced by Tk 43 to Tk 873.
However, the one-litre bottled soybean oil was sold at Tk 189 per litre and five-litre soybean oil was sold at Tk 900.
Traders have claimed that the new product of soybean oil has yet to reach them.
