Athletes leave for Bangkok to play in Asian C’ship

A five-member national athletics team left Dhaka for Bangkok, Thailand on Monday to compete in the 25th Asian Athletics Championship, beginning from Wednesday. 

Among athletes, Imranur Rahman will participate in 100m and 4*100m relay, Ritu Akhter in high jump, Md Ismail in long jump and 4*100m relay, Zahir Raihan in 200m and 4*100m relay, Rakibul Hasan in 200m and 4*100m relay.

The expat sprinter Imranur, who clinched the first-ever gold medal in the 10th Asian Indoor Athletics Championship in Astana, Kazakhstan last February, left London to join the team in Bangkok.

Bangladesh Athletics Federation general secretary Adv Abdur Rakib Montu and team leader Jayedul Alam PPM left for Thailand to participate in the 25th Asian AA congress.
