Jatiya Party Chairman and leader of opposition in the parliament GM Quader has said the next general election in the country will not be held like the ones in 2014 and 2018.
“The next parliamentary election will not be held like 2014 or 2018. Though, the Awami League government will try to take results like the previous two polls in anyway. But, the foreigners are trying to hold free and fair election,” he said.
The Jatiya Party chief made the remarks while talking to reporters at the party’s Banani office in the capital on Monday.
GM Quader said, “Awami League is trying to stay in power. It (govt) will also try to prolong its  power anyway.”
Mentioning that effort is being made to take to the street against the government after the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the Jatiya Party chief said it is not sure whether people will take to the street or not.
“However, it also can’t be confirmed that people will not take to street as their backs are against the wall,” he added.
GM Quader said the foreigners are putting pressure on the government for holding a free, fair and neutral election and the situation will be clear gradually after passing days.
He alleged that the government is trying to weaken the Jatiya Party as different agencies are creating pressure on mass media to make negative reports.
