Bangladesh emerging women’s team skipper Lata Mondol expressed her optimism of doing well in the upcoming ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong on June 12-21.
The Bangladeshi side left for Hong Kong on Friday to take part in the eight-team competition where they were drawn in Group B with Sri Lanka, UAE and Malaysia.
A good number of cricketers in the Bangladesh squad already have experience of playing in the international circuit while they are going into the tournament with a decent amount of match practice as they recently have played in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Women’s Cricket League.
“Our target is to play good cricket. We were among matches in the Premier League and also held camp. We have a good preparation and now let’s see what happens,” Lata told reporters in Mirpur before departing for Hong Kong.
Bangladesh head coach Hashan Thilakarathne also expressed his satisfaction with the preparation of the tournament and
“The preparation has been really good. We held our practices at the BKSP. The facilities were excellent. So we are really looking forward to the tournament,” the Sri Lankan coach said.
Bangladesh will begin their tournament campaign against Malaysia on June 12 before they take on Sri Lanka and UAE on June 14 and 16 respectively.
