BCB hopeful about getting Shakib in white-ball series

Bangladesh are hopeful to get the service of national stalwart Shakib Al Hasan in the upcoming white-ball series against Afghanistan scheduled in July, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Thursday.
Shakib won’t feature in the upcoming lone Test against Afghanistan, scheduled to start on June 14 in Mirpur due to his finger injury which he sustained during the second ODI against Ireland last month.
On Thursday, the all-rounder completed his first gym and running session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur after sustaining the injury on May 12.
“I have seen the x-ray report. I think it is alright. I hope that he will be able to play from the ODI series,” BCB’s chief physician Debashish Chowdhury told reporters in Mirpur.
“The main thing is to gain fitness and it’s the main challenge now. The broken finger won’t be a big problem as it was just a regular fracture,” he added.
The 50-over games will be played in Chattogram on July 5, 8 and 11 respectively before both teams will move to Sylhet to play the two T20Is which will be played respectively on July 14 and 16.
