Interim Test skipper Liton Das survived an injury scare ahead of the upcoming one-match Test series against Afghanistan.
Liton had back pain along with a fever and it forced him to skip a couple of training sessions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
“Liton had a scan and the report is good so there is nothing to worry about,” said a member of the team management. “Currently he (Liton) has fever but we are expecting him to be back at the training before the start of the Test,” said the official, adding that they have given rest to experienced opener Tamim Iqbal as his back pain recurred recently.
“His (Tamim’s) back pain recurred and as a result, he is taking rest. Usually after taking two or three days of rest, he recovers from such back pain and we are expecting the same this time too,” he added.
Tamim earlier missed the series against India due to a groin injury last year and returned to the squad for the one-off Test against Ireland Bangladesh will play the one-off Test against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on June 14-18.
