A 30-member Bangladesh national football team on Sunday joined the preparational camp at a hotel in the capital for the upcoming FIFA friendly away match and SAFF Championship 2023.
Head coach Javier Cabrera will start the closed-door on-field session at the Bashundhara Kings Arena today while the final squad is expected to be announced on Thursday.
“There are some new players in the list. It is quite positive. We want to see them in the training and want to see if they are ready for the international assignments,” he added.
The men in red and green will play the friendly match away in Cambodia on June 15. Cabrera’s men will compete against Lebanon on June 22, Maldives on June 25 and Bhutan on June 28 in Group B of SAFF.
“We have a good chance to qualify for the semifinals. For me, our final match will be against the Maldives,” said captain Jamal Bhuyan.
“We know Maldives and Bhutan very well. So, we have a big opportunity to qualify for the semifinals if beat them,” said defender Topu Barman.
