Operations against Drug Traders

33 Rab men sacrificed their lives: DG

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General M Khurshid Hossain said that a total of 33 members of the force have so far laid down their lives during operations against drug traders, militants and other criminals.

Besides, about 1,000 members of the elite force lost their different organs during the drives.

The DG said this while talking to reporters at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Sunday after a visit to Sub-Inspector Uttam Kumar, who is posted in RAB-12. He came under attack from some drug traders at Gangni in Meherpur on May 30.

Khurshid Hossain said that they would not allow any drug traders to get off scot-free.

“The RAB will bring all the drug traders to book, even if they are elected representatives,” he said.

About the condition of SI Uttam, the DG said he has recovered significantly and hopefully he will be discharged from hospital within a few days.
