8 skeletons stolen from Bogura graveyard

BOGURA: Eight skeletons were stolen from a graveyard at Muradpur Uttarpara village in Mokamtala union under Shibganj upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The stolen skeletons included five men and three women.

Locals said that on Sunday morning, a local Feroz came to pick mangoes from a mango tree near the graveyard and found the soil and bamboo of the grave in a messy condition. Later, when the matter was known, the people of the area gathered there.

At that time, the burial clothes and hair of the bodies were seen next to a grave, but no one saw any skeleton. A water bottle, part of a cigarette and footprints were found next to the earthen grave.

UP Chairman of Mokamtala Ahsan Habib said, “I have advised the villagers to report the news to the police station.”

Ashiq Iqbal, in-charge of Mokamtala Police Investigation Center, said that after receiving the information, the grave ground was visited, the police are working to find out whether the skeleton was stolen or some other crime was planned.
