2 to die, other gets life for killing man

CHATTOGRAM: A Chattogram court on Wednesday awarded death sentence to two and life-term imprisonment to another in a case filed for killing a neighbour over land dispute.

Chattogram 2nd Additional District and Session Judge Muhammad Amirul Islam also acquitted four other accused of the charges, said the court Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Sirajul Mostafa Mahmud.

The death row convicts were identified as Mohammad Jabed and Habij Ahmed while the life timer was Mintu Mian.

According to deposition of the case, one Abdus Sabur was stabbed to death by his neighbours over a land-dispute in Karnaphuli area on November 5 in 2010.

The victim’s wife Khurshida Begum filed a case accusing 10 persons with the Karnaphuli police station in this connection.

Police pressed charge sheet accusing nine persons in the case in September 2011. A court framed charges against eight of them later.

Two charge sheeted accused also died during the trial.

After hearing from 11 witnesses the court pronounced the verdict in presence of the accused on Wednesday, said the additional PP.
