Eastern Bank Ltd (EBL) has opened a dedicated China Business Desk for seamless cross-border trade and banking services between China and Bangladesh.
This one-stop solution centre was inaugurated at the EBL head office at Gulshan in the capital on Monday, according to a press release.
EBL Managing Director Ali Reza Iftekhar said China holds a substantial share of nearly 17 percent of Bangladesh's total trade, surpassing both India and the USA.
Furthermore, he highlighted China's increasing interest in investing in sectors like ICT, food processing, and renewable energy within Bangladesh.
Song Yang, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of China to Bangladesh, said, "Chinese companies are willing to increase trade and investment with Bangladesh. The timely launching of the China Business Desk by EBL will better serve the operation of Chinese enterprises in Bangladesh, and make a greater contribution to the development of China-Bangladesh economic and trade cooperation."
Ziaul Karim, the bank's head of communications and external affairs, gave a presentation on the products and services specially designed for Chinese companies and individual customers.
He informed me that there will be a dedicated email address ([email protected]) for all sorts of banking queries.
