The 25th edition of National Art Exhibition, a flagship art venture by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), began on Sunday.  

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of BSA in the evening.

Noted artists Hashem Khan, Abdul Mannan, Monirul Islam and cultural affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed attended the programme as the special guests with BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair.

BSA Fine Arts Department Director Sayeda Mahbuba Karim delivered welcome speech and BSA Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed delivered a vote of thanks.

A prize-giving ceremony was also held on the opening day. 

The art exhibition features a total of 301 artworks by 261 artists from across the country. This year, a total of 1,138 artists submitted more than 2,914 artworks at the event. A six-member selection committee comprising Ahmed Shamsuddoha, Saidul Haq, Konok Chapa Chakma,  Mokhlesur Rahman,  Mahbub Jamal Shamim and Mafizul Islam selected 301 artworks for the exhibition.

Local artistes perform at the inaugural ceremony.

 

A total of 96 paintings, 39 prints, 22 photographs, 60 sculptures, 38 installations, 11 new media artworks, 10 craftworks, seven graphic design works, six ceramic works and three performance arts are being exhibited at the exhibition. 

 A total of 20 prizes were handed over at the inaugural ceremony. Guests and organisers handed over Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award 2023 and best awards in nine different categories.

The art works will be exhibited at gallery 1-7 at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy till July 15.
