Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah is all set to leave Dhaka on June 22 to perform Hajj raising huge speculation regarding his international career considering he might have to skip the ODI series against Afghanistan.
A source confirmed The Daily Sun that Mahmudullah will leave on June 22 and will return on July 5.
He is also expected to miss the preparation camp for the series that is expected to start in full scale after Eid while there is expected to be some preparation for the white-ball cricketers before Eid as well.
Mahmudullah has retired from Test cricket and he is not considered either in T20Is or ODIs for quite some time.
Mahmudullah’s name came up in discussion in the recent past as Bangladesh are just nearing to complete their World Cup squad after doing experiments in the recent past.
Currently, Mushfiqur Rahim bats at number six where Mahmudullah was batting earlier while Bangladesh opted to have Mehidy Hasan Miraz at number seven, a position many believe can be filled by Mahmudullah going forward though there are a lot of candidates in that position.
Bangladesh team management insisted on several occasions that Mahmudullah is still very much in their plan and a source confirmed that he is all set to be included in the 24-member preliminary squad for the Afghanistan series.
If he is not available for the ODIs against Afghanistan chances are slim that he will be given a chance straight away in the squad for the Asia Cup that is expected to remain unchanged in the World Cup as well.
