Int’l expo on food, agri, healthcare, kicks off at ICCB

An international exposition on healthcare, food and agriculture began at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital on Thursday.

CEMS Bangladesh is organising the event, which includes the fourteenth edition of Meditex Bangladesh, sixth edition of International Health Tourism Expo, and Food & Agro Bangladesh International Expo, ninth edition of Pharma Bangladesh, seventh edition of Bangladesh Clinical Lab Expo and third edition of Dhaka International Plastics and Packaging Expo.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim inaugurated the three-day expo as the chief while Food Ministry Additional Secretary Khurshid Iqbal Rezvi was the special guest at the launching ceremony.

More than 230 companies from 10 countries have installed 450 booths at the expo.

Department of Agricultural Extension Director General Badal Chandra Biswas, Health Services Division Additional Secretary Nilufer Nazneen, American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh President Syed Ershad Ahmed and Chennai Fertility Center and Research Institute President VM Thomas were guests of honour.

CEMS Global Managing Director Meherun N Islam presided over the session while Executive Director Tanveer Qamrul Islam was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the function, Minister SM Rezaul Karim said the economy of Bangladesh is moving towards prosperity.

“High-quality healthcare, food production, agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and plastics are some major areas of Bangladesh industries which have enriched our economy,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Meherun N Islam said the expo brings opportunities for business communities to showcase advanced technology in health, food, agriculture and plastic industries.

The expo will remain open from 10:30 am to 8:00 pm.
