Dwijendralal Ray, Nurul Alam remembered at BSA

Noted Indian poet, playwright and musician Dwijendralal Ray and Bangladeshi music composer and singer Khandaker Nurul Alam were remembered through an event titled ‘Smriti Shotta Bhobishhot’ held at the Music Recital and Dance Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Monday.

Production Department of BSA organised the programme as part of paying tribute to four noted personalities of the sub-continent--Dwijendralal Ray, Khandaker Nurul Alam, singer Abbasuddin Ahmed and India dance artiste Uday Shankar. 

Dhaka University Music Department Associate Professor Shahnaz Nasrin Ela read out the main article about Dwijendralal Ray while Dr Komol Khalid of Government Music College read out the article about Khandaker Nurul Alam at the programme.

Cultural Affairs Ministry Joint Secretary Md. Shamim Khan, Dhaka University Music Department Professor Mehfuz Al Fahad and Cultural Affairs Ministry Deputy Secretary Rajib Kumar Sarker, among others, were spoke at the event with BSA Secretary Salahuddin Ahmed in the chair.

A music soiree was also held followed by the discussion. Singers Mahmudul Hasan, Dr Anima Roy, Afroza Khan Mita and Himadri Ray performed songs in remembrance of Dwijendralal Ray while Swaralipi, Sabrina Nawshin Tuni, M A Momin and Shohanur Rahman Shohan remembered Khandaker Nurul Alam through their wonderful music performance. 

 Emamur Rahman and Azharul Islam anchored the whole programme.

Abbasuddin Ahmed and Uday Shankar will be remembered through the programme ‘Smriti Shotta Bhobishhot’ to be held soon.
