PATUAKHALI: A total of 495 BNP leaders and activists have been sued in two cases filed over the clash between BNP and Awami League activists in Patuakhali town on Saturday.
Forty-five BNP men were named as accused in the two cases filed with Patuakhali Police Station, sources said.
Meanwhile, district unit Juba League Organising Secretary Nasir Uddin filed another case against 16 named BNP leaders and activists and 250 more unidentified BNP men on Sunday morning. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Patuakhali Police Station Moniruzzaman said legal action would be taken after investigation of the cases.
Patuakhali district BNP member secretary Snehanshu Sarkar said Awami League leaders and activists, including Chhatra League and Juba League men, attacked their pre-scheduled mass rally in front of Patuakhali district BNP office at 10am on Saturday and foiled it.
During the clash more than 100 leaders and workers were injured but the BNP men did not attacked AL leaders and activists. He also said that they also preparing to file a case against the attackers.
