The annual general meeting and council of the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh will be held at the Media Plaza, Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.

It will be the first time in eight years the organization which is also known as CWAB is holding its AGM. The last time the organisation held its AGM was back in the 2014-2015 season.

Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon is expected to attend the programme as the chief guest.

The organisation, which represents over 17 thousand registered cricketers and is also an affiliated body of the FICA, the BCB and the social welfare ministry, has failed to live up to expectations since it was established in 2004.

But with the AGM, the organization is aiming to make a revival after years of inaction.

CWAB General Secretary Debabrata Paul, who has been at the helm since 2014-15, claimed that they are ready to hold an election if the players want it.

“If they want an election at the AGM, we are ready to hold it,” Debabrata was quoted in a national daily on Friday.

BCB Director and former national skipper Naimur Rahman is the president of the current CWAB executive committee.
