Pakistan thrash Bangladesh 4-1 in YODI series

Pakistan U-19 cricket team thrashed Bangladesh by 80 runs in the fifth and last YODI to complete a 4-1 series win over the hosts at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Monday.

Riding on fifties by Hamza Nawaz (72) and Shahzaib Khan (67), the touring side posted 244-8 in their stipulated 50 overs after being sent into bat first.

Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby claimed 4-42 in his nine overs for the host team.

Bangladesh, in reply, were reduced to 38-4 in the ninth over before skipper Ahrar Amin (52) and Mohammad Shihab James (56) shared an 83-run stand for the fifth wicket to bring some respite in their innings.

Arafat Minhas (3-20) then dismissed Ahrar while he also run out Shihab to trigger a collapse in the Bangladesh innings.

The junior Tigers lost their four wickets without adding any runs on the score sheet and were bowled out for 164 runs in 36.3 overs to suffer yet another crushing defeat. Ali Asfand also took three wickets for the Pakistani side.

Bangladesh earlier lost the preceding one-off Youth Test series by 10 wickets against the same opposition. The one-off T20 match between the two sides will be held at the same venue on Wednesday.
