Int’l confce on Interventional Radiology held

The second international conference and workshop on Interventional Radiology or IR was held at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday.

The conference was organised jointly by the Bangladesh Society of Radiology and Imaging (BSRI) and the Bangladesh Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (BSVIR). Director General of Directorate General of Medical Service Major General AK M Musa Khan has attended the programme as the chief guest.

10 renowned interventional radiologists from India and 150 renowned military and civilian doctors from different levels of the country participated in the conference. It should be noted that Interventional Radiology or IR is insufficient for about 170 million people in Bangladesh. Its promotion and expansion are expected to benefit the armed forces as well as the larger population of the country.

In the conference, besides scientific discussion on various modern treatment systems of interventional radiology, hands-on workshops and live cases were conducted at CMH Cath, which is expected to play a special role in the development of this new subspecialty in Bangladesh.
