Abu Nayeem Shohag, the expelled general secretary of the Bangladesh Football Federation, exposed himself to the public on Wednesday for the first time since the FIFA verdict on April 14.
Shohag was accompanied by his lawyer Ajmalul Hossain KC during a press conference which was organised by the former BFF GS himself at the InterContinental Dhaka.
The journalists asked several questions regarding FIFA’s judgment, his ongoing case in CAS and BFF’s decision to impose a lifetime ban on him, but Shohag avoided most of the questions by saying that his answers could impact his ongoing case at CAS.
“I’ve been waiting for this press conference for a long time…Time will say if I’m innocent or not. But of course, I think I’m innocent and I’m now working to prove it officially. I’ll get back to you with good news,” Shohag said.
Giving a brief outline of Shohag’s ongoing case at CAS, Ajmalul said, “BFF had no procurement committee or policy during 2017-20. Whatever happened during this time, they (FIFA) knew it. But they didn’t consider it before judgment. We’ve presented arguments and evidence at CAS.”
Meanwhile, the BFF Inquiry committee, chaired by its convener Kazi Nabil Ahmed, held its second meeting at the BFF House on the same day
“We have started to examine papers related to FIFA’s complaint. Also, we have talked with several officials and wanted to know their statements,” Nabil said after the meeting.
