3rd Bangladesh-Turkey military dialogue held

The 3rd military dialogue between Bangladesh and Turkey was held at Multipurpose Hall of Armed Forces Division (AFD) in Dhaka Cantonment on April 12 to 14, 2023.

Brigadier General Husain Muhammad Masihur Rahman, Director General of Directorate of Operations and Plan, AFD and Air Brigadier General Tansel Çokuysal led their respective sides.

Representatives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense and senior officials from Armed Forces were present in the meeting.

On the other hand, the Turkey delegation consists of four persons and Military Attaché, Embassy of Turkey in Bangladesh also remained in the dialogue.

The purpose of this dialogue was to facilitate a broad discussion on military cooperation as a complement to the said dialogue. Military cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey is warm and intense.

It is clear that the Turkey will continue to support the Bangladesh Armed Forces in military development and training. Every year, many members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces are trained at various institutions in Turkey.

The two countries’ armed forces are working together in UN peacekeeping mission and the war on terror. Exchange of military visits of senior officials between the two countries is another feature of military cooperation.

This dialogue will enhance defense and military cooperation in the areas of global and regional security, technology, defence equipment disaster management, peacekeeping operations, training, visits, joint exercises and deployments workshops etc.

The 1st dialogue between BD-TU was held on July 5 to 6, 2015 in Dhaka and 2nd dialogue on March 21 to 23, 2022 in Turkey. In this context, a three-day military dialogue was organised.
