The Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said on Saturday that they are taking over the charge of Shaheed Chandu International Cricket Stadium in Bogura in order to play cricket.
BCB decided to cut all ties with the Shaheed Chandu International Stadium on March 2 due to non-cooperation from the Bogura District Sports Council and the board at that point time instructed all their employees to leave Bogura as they had decided to shift them to other venues.
BCB submitted a letter to the National Sports Council where they mentioned that they are not ready to prolong their stay in Bogura due to non-cooperation from Bogura DSC in recent times.
BCB had a meeting with NSC officials on Saturday and later changed their minds after being given an assurance that they will receive all kinds of cooperation from every quarter.
“Shaheed Chandu Stadium will remain as it is and BCB is taking over and from tomorrow we will start our activities there,” BCB director Ismail Haider Mallick told reporters on Saturday.
“We will have to bring it (SCICS) under our control and take care of it. Later, whether there will be games or not, the BCB grounds committee will decide it. We send everything to the grounds committee before any game and after they approve it we have it there. Whether it's age-level, CCDM, Game Development, women’s team, HP, or whatever it is first we send it to the grounds committee and later they will decide,” he said.
BCB’s Grounds Committee Chairman Mahbub Anam said that if they can fix the travelling problem due to no airport in Bogura they can bring back international cricket over there.
