BCB ready to hand over promised SAFF winning money

The Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Wednesday that they will hand over their promised TK 50 lakh to SAFF-winning women footballers within one or two days.

The BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon earlier promised to give TK 50 lakh to women footballers after they clinched the SAFF Championship in Nepal last year but to date, the BCB failed to disburse the money from their account.

“Our board president committed to give TK 50 lakh among the women footballers. We have spoken with the BFF in this regard but we could not fix the time to hand over the checks,” Nizamuddin Chowdhury, BCB’s chief executive officer, told reporters in Mirpur.

“Our checks have been ready for three to four months and when they give us a suitable time, we will hand over the check to them. “If that is not the case, we will talk and take time from them and will hand over the check to them as soon as possible. If they can’t collect it within one or two days, we will send it to them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mahfuza Akter Kiron, the BFF women’s wing chairman, told The Daily Sun that they are waiting to receive the checks in the coming days.

“We have been hearing it for a long time, but still we didn’t get it,” said Kiron.

“We know nothing about it (regarding the handover) but if they really give it, we will definitely accept it. They will give it to the girls, we have no problem,” she said.  It was learnt that the BCB is planning to distribute the money individually to the members of the team.
