Kings reach Federation Cup semis

Bashundhara Kings reached into the semifinals of the ongoing Bashundhara Group Federation Cup 2022-23 after they beat Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra Ltd by 3-1 goals in the first quarterfinal at the Shaheed Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Tuesday.

Japanese midfielder Soma Otani gave Muktijoddha SKC the lead after he scored from a straight corner kick in the 35th minute before Kings’ Brazilian forward Dorielton Gomes Nascimento scored the equalizer with a volley off a cross from captain Robson Robinho in the 42nd minute.

Dorielton scored his second goal and gave Kings the lead with a header off a corner from Robson in the 79th minute before Robson scored the third goal to seal the fate of the match in the 82nd minute.

Kings will play the first semifinal at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj against the winners of the third quarterfinal between Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd and Chittagong Abahoni Ltd on May 9.

Meanwhile, Kings earlier emerged Group B champions after winning all their three matches.
