Bangladesh are sweating over the availability of their opener Tamim Iqbal in the one-off Test match series against Ireland, starting today in Mirpur, due to his family crisis.
“His (Tamim’s) son is very sick and currently he is with his family,” Jalal Yunus, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation chairman, told reporters on Monday.
Tamim earlier missed the preceding home Test series against India in December last year with a groin injury.
Bangladesh have already lost pacer bowler Taskin Ahmed for the lone Test against Ireland after he sustained a side strain.
Uncapped pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja has been added to the squad as Taskin’s replacement.
