5,000 more poor families get rice in Rupganj

Bashundhara Group, the country's largest business conglomerate, in association with Rongdhanu Group handed out rice among 5,000 more poor families in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj on the occasion of the holy Ramadan.

Chairman of Upazila Parishad and General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Shahjahan Bhuiyan distributed the rice on the premises of Ganabangla School in Bholabo Union under the upazila on Monday.

Kanchan Municipality Mayor Rafiqul Islam, District Awami League Vice-President Abul Bashar Tuku, Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Shahriar Panna Sohel, Rongdhanu Group Director Mizanur Rahman, Bholabo Union Awami League leader advocate Tayebur Rahman, Mayeen Mollah, Masud Chowdhury, Masum Mian, and Taslima Akter were present.

Addressing the programme, Shahjahan Bhuiyan said Bashundhara Group and Rongdhanu Group started distributing food items among 25,000 insolvent families in the upazila        from the beginning of Ramadan. Besides, Bashundhara Group is hosting iftar for 5,000 orphans every day. As a humanitarian act, the two corporate houses are distributing rice.

People of Rupganj expressed gratitude and prayed for Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Rongdhanu Group Chairman Rafiqul Islam for standing by the people of the upazila.
